NJHELA Cohort 2 fellows Dr. Puneeta Sharma (Valley Medical Group) and Dr. Amy Frieman (Hackensack Meridian Health) presented the poster on “Palliative Care Reimbursement” at the CAPC ( Center to Advance Palliative Care) National seminar held in Orlando, FL on Nov 8-10, 2018. CAPC is a national organization dedicated to improving the availability of high quality Palliative Care services. The seminar attendees represented a range of disciplines including clinicians, hospitals, hospices, providers, payers and policy makers. The poster specifically addressed the issue and solutions for lack of reimbursement inhibiting provision of high quality interdisciplinary Palliative Care. The poster generated lots of interest among attendees and commendations for NJHELA ‘s efforts to improve end of life care in NJ. A key achievement was generating awareness among attendees that solving Palliative Care reimbursement issues requires a multidisciplinary effort.
